Thinking of selling up...
21. Jan 2010 at 22:44

Hi all, well the thought has crossed my mind to sell up the CB1300 and move on up the food chain this year. (Started with a '77 XL125, '81 GS125, '82 Kwaka GT750, '89 CBR1000F and now the '05 CB1300 - potential next victim; '09/10 M109R).

I've invested around $6,500 AUD in aftermarket accessories and bling for the CB over the past year or so. Purely cause I wanted to and had the spare change to do so. But now that I'm thinking of selling up, should I leave everything on the bike and sell it as a blinged out machine or remove everything and sell it stock? Which could be difficult with some items like the gold DID chain and sprockets!

I know I won't see my $6K again or anything close to it but it probably would allow me to get a higher price for it. I paid $9,990 for it November 2008, my last insurance renewal dropped the stock value to $8,990 AUD.

How much do you think I should put on it as an asking price blinged out? I was thinking put $11,990 and accept $11,000AUD if I found the right buyer who liked gold that is Wink

Alternatively, strip it all back and put stock parts back on and sell it in original condition and put the aftermarket gear on eBay. If I can at least get back %50 of the original value I'll be ahead of scenario 1.

CB1300's are a rare find for sale in South Australia so there shouldn't be much competition. Interstate they seem to go for around the $8,000AUD mark with 20-30,000km on the clock. Mine has 42,000km.

Any thoughts?

i agree with NEL, take off the extras and sell separately. you could always give the  buyer first refusal before putting them on fleabay.

Hi Carl,

it seems that there are always around 5-7 CB1300S and around 6-8 Naked for sale in AUS.
Transport isn't that expensive, so Interstate Buyers could be interested.

Take most the bling off, as you will not get any more for the bike with the bling on it.
A dealer won't pay more for the bling either, should you consider trading it in.

You have your very own taste, so some people might don't like it and get turned off. (not criticizing your taste, just a thought)
Be honest.... Would you pay 12k for a blinged CB1300 that has 42k k's on the clock, if you can get a near new one for only a little more?
(I just checked Bike Sales and the guys currently asking way to much, hence they don't get rid of the bikes, the well priced ones are all gone)

Did you just say moving up the food chain to a Suzuki Cruiser?????  Grin

I guess it is rather a side move, isn't it  Cool

Good Luck with the sale

Hey guys... and thanks Marc for the virtual slap across the face with reality! LOL!  Grin Shocked yes you are right though.

It's a bit like a man with his wife, he thinks she's the most beautiful and valuable thing in the world, but to someone else she's butt ugly. LOL!

Well to put some closure to this thread. After much thinking, I've decided just to keep it. It does tick all the boxes for me, and as I lose more weight the seat height issue should be a bit easier (hey less padding between the legs so to speak. On top of that, I'm a bit iffy whether I'll still have a job by the end of the year the way things are going with the Murray River and this regions economy, so best not to sign up for any loans add be left hung out to dry on the doll. And all the work I've put into this thing, may as well enjoy it now.

So... what can I mod next??????  Grin Grin Grin Wink
